Course 3, Unit 7 - Recursion and Iteration
Overview
In this unit, students represent and solve problems related to sequential
change, using subscript and function notation and also technological
tools, such as spreadsheets. They study arithmetic and geometric sequences
and series and investigate the general process of iterating functions.
New Key Ideas from Course 3, Unit 7
-
Step-by-step change: mathematical models for (See pages 458-461.)
-
Arithmetic sequences: e.g., 1, 5, 9, 17, 21, 25,
28, … (See page 483.)
-
Geometric sequences: e.g., 1, 4, 16, 64, 256, 1,024, …
(See page 485.)
-
Iterating functions: input a value and obtain the output
value of a function, then input that value into the function and
repeat. (See pages 514-522.)
